San Diego has many jewels - two of them being my best friends Lydia and Jeanne who are finishing their last quarter at UCSD. I took the Southern Pacific Line down to Solana Beach where my friends picked me up and took me straight to Phil's BBQ. The baby back ribs were so good I took my family who came for a day trip to the same spot for dinner the next day. Their coleslaw was refreshing and crisp, the onion rings were humongous, and the staff was really friendly! I keep raving about the place whenever I meet someone from SD in Boston, but they have no idea what I am talking about. This place is Food Network Bobby Flay Throwdown worthy people!!
